Jeremy launched the firm in July 2014. Cross-border tax was a big part of our service mix from the start, but as the years passed it grew to become the heart of who we are – a firm dedicated to providing cross-border tax compliance and planning services.
Jeremy Bast, CPA, EA

Educated at the University of Toronto and Wilfrid Laurier University, Jeremy spent the first fifteen years of his career in the tax departments of Arthur Andersen, Grant Thornton and Bishop & Company. This period gave him a solid grounding in Canadian and U.S. compliance and planning.
Jeremy launched our firm in July 2014 to continue to focus on the thing he does best – providing cross-border tax services with a unique emphasis on responsiveness, quality and value.
In addition to his professional interests, Jeremy is passionate about being a catalyst for personal growth – both in his own life and in the lives of others. Outside the office, you’ll find him managing his rental properties, working out, and watching sports.
Abigail is a dual U.S.-Canadian citizen and a licensed CPA in both the United States (Connecticut) and Canada (Nova Scotia), giving her a unique personal and professional perspective on cross-border tax matters. Originally from Connecticut, she moved to Nova Scotia with her spouse and joined Unbordered in January 2022.
Having lived and worked on both sides of the border, Abigail understands the complexities clients face—filing in multiple countries, navigating tax residency, managing cross-border finances, and interacting with both the IRS and CRA, often during major life transitions. This firsthand experience deepens her commitment to ensuring clients feel prepared, supported, and confident with their cross-border taxes.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from The University of Connecticut (UConn). Abigail began her career in Audit & Assurance at Deloitte in Hartford, Connecticut before expanding into the tax field. She now focuses on helping individuals and families navigate the tax implications of working, moving, and investing across borders.
Outside of work, Abigail stays active hiking and snowboarding and enjoys travelling to spend time with family and friends.
